khaleja-a great idea wasted in pursuit of heroism

you may ask me why you are writing this review after a long time.
yes its a very long time. the movies released a long back. but some of my friends ( kamesh, raghu, dn.......) and students consider it a good movie where as i differ from their point.
Henceforth i want to put my review on this movie which was made for three years directed by one of the most talented director and  protagonist played  by a lovely personality in film industry.

PLOT:
A village suffering from mysterious deaths faces a situation: whether to leave the village or face the inevitable.some leave the village and others stay back. A soothsayer predicts a messiah will be sent by the god to save the remaining lot. The soothsayer sends one of his disciple with hints  to find the so called messiah. The messiah finds protagonist in a bizarre situation and brings him to the village. The protagonist is in no mood to agree with the prophecy.Whats the secret behind deaths in village? How the protagonist agrees to save the victims? And whats the term GOD reflects? .

THE COURSE OF THE MOVIE:

On the paper this movie is a perfect script which promises a block buster. With Mahesh babu in the lead and a director like trivikram srinivas the script seems flawless and destined to be one of the elegant packages of the year. The songs, promos and publicity created a strong platform. the director took nearly three years to complete the movie and anticipation has no measure.

THE GOOD THINGS:
* Comic situations which refresh you every ten to fifteen minutes
*The theory of helping the needy is realizing god
*The dialogues at climax.
THE BAD THINGS:
*The strength of any story is its protagonist. Its the strong characterization of  Ram and Ravana that made Ramayana a legend. Its the same with Sherlockholmes. Its the same with recently made Gamyam. The Protagonist of Khalejha lack intensity and sensibility which never goes well with the story. Our protagonist never sympathizes with the sufferings of victims( be it the death of the child or her amazing  recovery, the repeated requests from the village folk to save the village , or his sudden transformation). No where he feels for the craving village. The village, soothsayer and his disciple are strong in their conviction where as our hero is halfhearted.
*The problem is never put in a perspective. The factory which was the root cause was never seen except visuals. The politician - industrialist nexus was never properly explored. And above all Media which highlights a small gimmickry in villages in flash news form is completely avoided in this film. The problem therefore never turns out to be neither explored nor solved. And the problem, its creator and its implications arise in the last reel and fall in that reel itself. I advise the director to just go through Maayabazzar and Sholay both different yet establish problem in a definitive manner so that the viewer is in a tense mood to see how the protagonist eliminates the problem
*I advise trivikram to read " in high places"by Arthur Hailey. It to show case how to entwine different aspects to reach a certain moment and from their to a glorious conclusion. Trivikram failed and what appears is cuts and pieces put together to form a zigzag
THE UGLY
When a director like trivikram (who writes good dialogues also ) we are made to expect a sumptuous meal. In the worst case a satisfactory yawn. But  what is dished out? A stale comic pursuit to a serious problem.
That is unpardonable.
I and Musafir often discuss stories written by the great Tilak. While reading the story itself it makes you feel, weep, exclaim and run somewhere. Any story by tilak gives you such pain. By mentioning sri Tilak iam making a sin. But i am not comparing. I want you folks to realize Sri Tilak wrote situations. felt situations. and its godlike.
So Trivikram srinivas who wrote and directed some of the finest movies lost his touch. Why? He failed to feel. He failed to see and he failed to connect. The result: a good story shattered into pieces.

What may be the reason: Simple. the problem that plagues the Telugu industry. Hero Worship. For elevating hero we kill the situation. For making the hero look super human we shun the mach features of problem. For hero we search heroine instead of searching the heroine. ( learn from the casting of Lagaan, Omkara, Gamyam ) Telugu Industry is for the hero of the hero and by the hero. And for that simple reason good stories are channeled into pieces and there by drainage's.
