JOURNEY: worth watch

SATYA
Long years back RAM GOPAL VARMA made satya. At one point in satya bhiku matre(played by Manoj Bajpai) gets killed. That scene comes in a time where the mood of the film is jubilant and voices of celebration in the movie touching your ear with a deep penetration. Then he gets killed.Sudden silence /Shock and even in the hall  the viewer took time to get adjusted to the sudden twist. Thats rgv when he is not marketing and making films.

NUVVUNENU
In nuvvu nenu the heroine waves at the plane unaware of the fact the person for whom she is waiting is in the plane. The scene  ends the first half and all the viewers anxiously waited for the second half.

Shock and surprise moments in the films are always absorbing provided they are packaged well. It makes you ponder over things which you always left in a hurry. The scene in satya made me very careful whenever a bad friend have shown advance with cloaks of goodness.

After a long time the movie Journey surprised me with its unique blend of tragedy and happiness. The moments of sharing, grief, happiness and sadness are all that sudden in life that we always live that moment with the mood genuine and natural. Nothing can be controlled by us and nothing can be done at will when we are driven by nature. Here the journey represents the force that controls and changes our destinations.
The journey  tells us we are not powerful to control life. Seconds can change the way we look at life.

Also the movie highlights in a continuous tone about the conditions of irregular travel habits of India and how we are accustomed to it. It also shows how restless and careless the drivers while travelling on repaired roads. It show cases the genuine helping nature of people who come to rescue victims. It presents to us how our travel conditions are jeopardized by unhealthy administration which works only after an tragedy.

The moments in the film are not new to screen. The love stories and and other characters tensions aare also not new. A road film is not uncommon in our days(we have seen gamyam, Zindagi naa milegi dobara, etc,.,)
What makes this film different from others  is its platform and the way it was presented. The fact what happens at the end of the movie is revealed in the first scene and both the flash back and present were well presented.

The female leads played their role with ease and finesse. They are destined to a great future. Sharwanand's  role is limited and he should now think of roles other than these kinds. All the other departments have done their work well

And this is not a movie where we are going to discuss honours. This is life.

Long years ago a husband went to airport in Mumbai to book tickets. A bomb blast took place but he survived. He called his wife and informed his safety. After that he traveled to Stock Exchange on his work.Another blast took place there. This time he is unlucky. The wife still today does not believe he is dead. She is mentally disturbed. And lots of blasts still  happen in India

JOURNEY BRINGS BACK SUCH HORRENDOUS TALES TO MEMORY. ITS A WAKE UP CALL. WAKE UP.

rajanna

A young girl from a remote village in Telangana whose residents were slaves to the patwari system sets out to meet the first prime minister of the country to get his help to save her village from the clutches of   "Dorasani". This main plot seemed magical as lot can be worked out on the screen to showcase the post independent era of 50's. As the girl sets out to Delhi and waits on to meet the Prime minister she was again brought back to the village by the "Dorasani" and imprisoned.
The Subplot opens up with a revolutionary freeing his followers from the British after a fight and they parting ways to meet again. This revolutionary (rajanna) comes across the atrocities in Telangana   and inspires the people there to revolt against the followers of nizam. As a result battle lines were drawn between the conservationists and revolutionary. The revolutionary succumbs after a valiant fight.
The main plot reopens with the revolutionary daughter singing a song and mesmerizing the first pm and a happy ending.

Rajanna suffered because of two strong story lines which were never connected. While the first one is all about a girls determined journey the second one is a revolutionary's determination to make people realize their energy levels and claim whats theirs. The director failed to realize both these strong story lines are not made for one movie. Sadly a brilliant story line dips after a thunderous start..And once the second half started i forgot the girl and fell in love with rajanna and his songs. And in the penultimate scenes the director suddenly brings the girl and the plot and like many Telugu films everything is hurried.

I felt i am watching two movies at a time.

Instead of showing rajanna as father of the girl,  the film would have worked if both the stories were run in tandem and rajanna accompanying the girl to achieve her goal. The director should have worked out the story in that way and lot could have been achieved with such chemistry. Both rajanna and the girl never meet and the much anticipated chemistry never exists.

Its a rare try in the mainstream cinema to bring out .the injustice and exploitation in telangana. sadly the film tries only in certain ways. Never the film projects pain in the most inflicting ways. The horrors of telangana were the most disturbing in the history of india. Here is  an opportunity but it was wasted on cinematic liberties.

Finally iam not saying this film is without merits. One scene will stay long in my memory where a mother with a baby in her lap singing songs to wake the baby and Nagarjuna affectionately wishes her only to find a horrifying tragedy  which shocks you to death.Or the other one where you expect the hero to beat the enemies but what happens is completely different.

The songs are good. There were some touching moments. but as i said two different story lines and a great injustice done to the main plot.

And the director should have remembered that rajanna dies literally in 1948 or so. 8 years or later mallama sets up to meet the prime minister Nehru. Its around 1956 then. So whats the take.? whether nizam went in such a horrifying state in 1956 or so(by then our state was unified and the horrors of nizams slowly subsiding).Lots of inaccuracies. Dear director when making a period movie lot should be studied and lot should be taken into account.
And sir you spoiled one of the best opportunities.
In the movie nagarjuna makes every one reach their potential by his words and songs. Some one should have done the same while the making of the movie.

PANJAA

long years back RGV made antham with nagarjuna. Iam in my degree second year and i loved the movie where others simply made it a outcast.Always its a pain to remember antham was a flop. One of the  best movies made by RGV. The paradox is with little change he made satya , it went on to become a  cult classic. Antham remains one of my favourites.

More or less similar Panjaa brings back the memories of antham .The shots photography gunfights and a calm but ruthless protagonist. Ironically the plot resembles antham in a lot of way. The same conflict between the mentor and the disciple is brought up here too. The only difference is a fear quotient among producers that it may not appeal and hence forced comedy and scenes in the second half.

the comparison ends here.Antham is lot better in screenplay and presentation.
Then what makes panjaa appealing? rather interesting.

The behaviour of a confused hero. Unlike mafia movie dramatics the hero simply falls for the girl and there after works out for his love. the girl never becomes point of conflict like antham and there the story differs. Jai of Panjaa is having his friends and normal unlike raghav of antham. Jai is very much loyal to his mentor where as raghava has no such attachment to any one concerned.

These points of loyalty and ones own life are the base for panjaa. And it begs to differ from regular stereotype. The movie steps into pace when the mentor asks his disciple to extend his loyalty to his son and the later is not ready. Situations force the two to turn against each other and the protagonist is torn between loyalty and himself.

Pawan kalyan should be commended for doing a director backed role. HE controls himself and comes out with an appreciable performance. Jackie shroff as the mentor deliver a powerhouse performance. and new comer adivi seshu as the mentor's son dominates the screen whenever he is on the screen.

Photography is top notch and music (both songs and background) is of high quality. Dialogues are pretty good. Telugu cinema now has writers who are writing heart felt and touching dialogues. This movie has such in good numbers.

Now its definite that the readers of this review will feel whats great in these lines. The thing is these dialogues are simply told in the films complex scenes. There is no preachy stuff. They elevated the scenes to the maximum effect. such simply written stuff is another merit of this film.

Now what makes panjaa weak. again the falsified star worship. In the entire second half  I was surprised to see the hero jumping frantically to a mad tune. The protagonist sudden mood switches from jubilant to moody are patches on the entire characterization. When the hero is  lost in a sea of strangers and trying to secure himself you find deviations in form of brahmanandam and co. We are type casting brahmanandam  and he is a victim of stars searching for hits. The entire second half instead of concentrating on the main plot puts itself on regular cliches. And as a result the penultimate scenes run in a hurry leading to a urgency in ending.

And it turns out to be a sour taste in the main course after a well served starter.

No doubt the director has done a good job. The way the protagonist fears himself looking in the mirror in the second half clearly explains the directors ability. The thread of hero looking into mirror in different situations may not be unique but  used here in a continuance. Most of the conversations are economical and hence visually a treat as much is to be conveyed through eyes. The eye conversation between Atul kulkarni and Pavan kalyan stands out.

In the final scenes pawan says "దాదా! విషయము మనిద్దరి మధ్య." to jackie shroff. Yes the film is a conflict between a man who sheltered a mother less child and a child whose loyalty is only to the man who saved him.And sadly once the conflict is established and you are expecting a thriller, you come across  -a romance- a forced comedy-regular hero stunts etc., And when the thrill begins it ends so soon that you wonder what you saw---a good first half or a compromised second half or a regular stereotype.

The Protagonist has a good habit. He sets out time for his work on a stop watch and completes his works on schedule. No deviations when in his work.He even cuts the call from his lady love when in work. The director should have implemented the same for the movie.

గెలుపు నిన్ను ప్రపంచానికి పరిచయం చేస్తుంది. ఓటమి ప్రపంచమును నీకు పరిచయం చేస్తుంది.

Often I hear the words : what a movie! most modern!Keeping the new gen in mind! etc.,

Often i come across who refer certain movies as movies of 80's 70's....Recently Singham was called a mindless 80's entertainer.

For me movie can never be classified into years trends and ages. Its the way the movie was/is packaged matters. Preachy or non preachy or modern or youthful -all these are conveniences. My mother in her 50's said" bagaa tisadura' about manasanta nuvve. My son said " enta baagundi" about sagarasangamam. Two generations separated by fifty years reacted to two movies of past and present in this way.

Why Iam reacting in this way? Because  I read  in a review that "pilla Zamindar" is regressive and lacks novelty. Its my fortune i had not paid attention to the review and saw the movie.

Dear Reviewers,  whats the yardstick to measure the caliber of the movie?  Most of you have concluded it is nani who made it watchable or no good humour or dragging second half etc.,

No one spoke the merits the movie presented.

For me Pilla Zamindar  is the second good film this year after virodhi. It represented the missing ideals of life in a good way. After many years we saw a government college, dignified staff and college atmosphere. Words like NCC and NSS may be very alien to gen X .It showcased the concept of humanism, good friendship and the value of education. After years some good is shown for the cause of telugu.

The way the song "ayyayo chetilo dabbulu..." is made will make you laugh heartily.

No  doubt Nani performed very well. At the same time every other artiste made their presence.

Don't think this is a great movie. But its great because it tried a different line-- 80's(in words of my fellow reviewers)  It preaches but never bores you. A good dose of humour which  never tries to  go over board.

Music photography taking etc., are not up to mark. the direction and screenplay were stuck and directionless at certain points. The logic of letting loose a guy for 21 years and tightening him later is never properly explained. You can come out  with lot of loop holes.

THEN WHY SUCH A PRAISE IN THE ABOVE PARAGRAPHS.
SURPRISINGLY THE SCENES ARE FLAVOURED WITH SOME FINE DIALOGUES. IN FACT THE FILMS  STRENGTH LIES IN ITS WRITING. THE DIALOGUE WRITER  HAVE WRITTEN DIALOGUES IN A FASCINATING WAY. IN FACT THE CONVERSATIONS PLACED THE MOVIE AT A HEIGHT AND COVERED UP FOR MUSIC  AND PHOTOGRAPHY. HERE ARE A FEW I CHERISHED AND MESSAGED TO LOT OF MY FRIENDS:

After a long time i saw quality of writing. The movie is hugely benefited by such dialogues and 80's like atmosphere. It never resorts to ugly and moronic practices.
Watch it with your mom and dad.
watch it with your son and daughter
watch it with your friends.
If it is 80's or 70's movie let me assure you Telugu cinema's gems evolved during that time.
Its not preachy. Its dialogues will inspire you. Go

oops :oosaravelli:

Our hero proclaimed he wanted the story to dominate the proceedings not hero power. thats why he gave a lot of importance to the heroine's flashback in the second half. But the generosity of the hero has not generated the needed support for this movie.
perhaps the title is so named  because the hero behaves in most confusing way with different characters in the movie. But the original meaning of the word and this title never match.
I never understand our telugu movies masala intentions. In choodlani undi the hero is in grief of missing his son yet he dances and makes a lot of fun. In almost all movies the hero's behavior and flashback never match. The same here.
nothing specific to write a review here. Nothing specific to recount.

What i understand is:
the combination of hero heroine director matters
the novelty of title matters
the masala beat matters
no of screen releases matters.
STORY NEVER MATTERS

తెలుగు సినిమాను రకరకాల దారులు పట్టిస్తున్న వీళే నిజమైన ఊసరవెల్లులు

the birth of a superstar

please dont ask my opinion on dookudu.
but ask me what can i infer from this super hit of the year.
i saw crowds going beserk even on 25th day of the movie.
i saw elders discussing the charm of the hero
i saw people celebrating the success wholeheartedly
i saw youngsters imitating the dialogue: Police
i saw girls adoring the hero
i saw families waiting for their chance to get into the theatre.
i saw a lot of hysteria among everyone in the hall and no one is sad.

YES. MAHESH IS NOW A SOCIAL HABIT. A MUCH NEEDED QUALITY TO THE ROAD OF SUPERSTARDOM,
Mahesh babu undoubtedly achieved the cult status of the superstar with dhookudu. Last time i saw such mood happening at only chiraneevi rajni or amitabh. After a long time the mood returned to the hall

DELHI BELLY ------ DISTASTEFUL NON STOP HUMOUR

Long years back a movie called " Chitram Ballare Vichitram" (చిత్రం భళ్ళరే విచిత్రం) released in telugu. It was a super hit. It was a small budget movie and earned a lot of money. I being a youth of that day enjoyed it a lot. And when my mother wanted to watch a movie i brought the video cassette of the same. My mother beat me black and blue forgetting i am doing my graduation. She was horrified by the thought that i watched it on big screen. I felt very bad that day but cant give up the thought that i enjoyed a lot . Till date i have a sour feeling that i enjoyed a "VULGAR MOVIE" and this episode helped me choosing cinema..

And now when i watched Delhi Belly i thought  " Chitram Ballare Vichitram" (చిత్రం భళ్ళరే విచిత్రం)  was far better   movie of dignity.

virodhi.............. at last a relief in Telugu cinema this year

ఆశయాలు లేని పోరాటం విరోధులను సృష్టిస్తుంది.---Director Neelakanta of Virodhi

This sums up the mood and tenor of the new telugu movie virodhi.

A Journalist walks into an attack on a Mp by one Naxal group thats trying to prove its strength and the group kidnaps the scribe for a safe return to their hideout. This group is composed of highly literate and illiterate people who were made to take guns after their world seemed miserable and discourteous.Lead by a power hungry, self proclaimed leader this group has an idealist who represents the real essence of movement. It also has people who were exploited to the maximum and who got recruited into the group to get vengeance. And it has a senior leader whose role is like a guide. This group now should get back to their hideout in the jungle and the journalist is their shield.
A man hunt is launched by the police to free the Journalist .

NO. this is not usual cop naxal and preach there here like sinduram or baanam.

The film never divulges into ideologies. In fact we see people from law and naxals to protect the journalist.

THEN:
The kidnapped journo observes the proceedings helplessly, pleads to let him free and shows resolution to stay back to show the truth to the group. The journo realizes the power hungry attitude, the way to lead people by hysteria rather than rationality and opportunism in the leader. The leader realizes that the journo is slowly leading his group to the truth.
It is the game,  a psychological one between both.watch it on the big screen to see who wins and how.

Its not great movie. But it has a perfect premise. It presents picture perfect situation of the movement and the failure of govt to stop atrocities which still keeps the movement on. It tells you how sacrifices are made. It honestly takes on media . It shows the helplessness of senior leaders of movement. It showcases helplessness of youth leaders to leave the movement.  Watch it for the honest portrayal of circumstances. It never tries to preach or put up the reasons behind movement.

I have seen all the movies of the director Neelakanta. If people appreciated missamma its because of the glamour quotient and family drama. I was fascinated by the ideas of "Nanadanvanam 12 km", "Mister Medhavi" and "sada mee sevalo". He builds up characters -creates emotions-writes perfect screen play. Then what he misses. In all his movies his protagonist was pitted against a powerful antagonist. Its sivaji the employee against Bhumika the employer in Missama, Venu the crusader against subbaraju the MLA in sada mee sevalo, Raja the intelligent against Genelia the analyst in Mister Medhavi and Nani the thief against Kota his boss in Nandanavanam and  Srikanth the journalist against Ajay the leader. The protagonists are weak and underplayed. The point is to show the underdog winner. Under dog doesn't mean weak.  It means the best in them is hidden and it emerges out during crisis. Just watch lagaan and see what Asutosh haddone to his protagonist.  Neelakanta's antagonists are very powerful and they leave a telling impact on the viewer. Ajay(gogi) in virodhi makes you feel love and hate.Where as srikanth in protagonists role seems forced at situations.

Whatever the movie is worth a watch. Watch it for characters that define life in every possible manner.Watch it for hard hitting dialogue. Watch it for we feel we are shining and realize the dark below the shine.

Virodhi is a breather this year. Of all the telugu movies released this year this one is  number one for me. What  a year. We saw heroes batting bullets with swords, heroines minimizing their dress to the maximum extent possible, heard some thing that's called music, saw gymnastics in name of dance, mockery of love and what not.For a while Virodhi seemed a dubbed movie for its values and straight narration.

Respect virodhi. We  don't have viswanadh's any more.

And finally Dear Director,

ఆశయాలతో చేసే పోరాటం కూడా  విరోధులను సృష్టిస్తుంది.

KWAN

Nice dialogues from jerry maguire
Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) is a glossy 35-year-old sports agent working for Sports Management International (SMI). After suffering a nervous breakdown as a result of stress and a guilty conscience, he writes a mission statement about perceived dishonesty in the sports management business and how he believes that it should be operated. He distributes copies of it, entitled "The Things We Think and Do Not Say: The Future of Our Business". His co-workers are touched by his honesty and greet him with applause, but the management sends Bob Sugar (Jay Mohr), Maguire's protégé, to fire him. Jerry and Bob call all of Jerry's clients to try to convince them not to hire the services of the other. Jerry speaks to Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding, Jr.), one of his clients who is disgruntled with his contract.Tidwell tests Jerry's resolve through a very long telephone conversation, which culminates in the famed "Show Me the Money!" scene.

Rod: Now to recap, I want to stay in Arizona. I want my new contract. I like you, you're nice to my wife.
Jerry: That's that's great. I'm really... happy.
Rod: Are you listenin'?
Jerry: Yes!
Rod: This is what I'm gonna do for you: God bless you, Jerry. But this is what you gonna do for me, Jerry?
Jerry: Yeah, what can I do for you, Rod? You just tell me what can I do for you?
Rod: It's something very personal, a very important thing. Hell! It's a family motto. Are you ready Jerry? I wanna make sure you're ready, brother. Here it is: Show me the money. Show! Me! The! Money! Jerry, it is such a pleasure to say that! Say it with me one time, Jerry.
Jerry: Show you the money.
Rod: No, no. You can do better than that! I want you to say it brother with meaning! Hey, I got Bob Sugar on the other line I bet you he can say it!
Jerry: Yeah, yeah, no, no, no. Show you the money.
Rod: No! Not show you! Show me the money!
Jerry: Show me the money!
Rod: Yeah! Louder!
Jerry: Show me the money!
Rod: I need to feel you Jerry!
Jerry: Show me the money! Show me the money!
Rod: I love black people.
Jerry: I love black people!
Rod: Who's your............., Jerry?
Jerry: You're my ................! Show me the money!
Rod: Uh! Congratulations, you're still my agent.
Kwan", a word used by Cuba Gooding, Jr. Tidwell meaning love, respect, community, and money, also spelled "quan" and "quawn", to illustrate the difference between himself and other football players
Jerry: I started talking with Dennis Wilburn about your renegotiation.
Rod: Talking. Jerry Rice, Andre Reed, Chris Carter... I smoke all these fools. They are making the big sweet dollars. They are making the... kwan, and you are talking.
Jerry: Kwan. That's your word?
Rod: Yeah, man, it means love, respect, community... and the dollars too. The whole package. The kwan.
Jerry: Great word. Towel?
Rod: No, I air-dry.
Jerry: Rod, I say this with great respect, but those players you mentioned are marquee players...
Rod: Marquee?!?
Jerry: Here's what I'm saying. This is a renegotiation. We want more from them, so let's show them more from us. Let's show them your pure joy of the game, let's bury the attitude a little, let's show them --
Rod: You're telling me to dance.
Jerry: No, I'm saying to be --
Rod: "Love me love me love me... put me on t.v." That's the iconography of racism, man!
Jerry: Rod, I'm not a racist. I'm telling you to be the best version of you, to get back to the guy who first started playing this game. Way back when you were a kid. It wasn't just about the money, was it?...Was it?
Rod: Do your job, man, don't tell me to dance.
Jerry: Fine. Fine. Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine.
Rod: I'm an athlete, not an entertainer. These are the ABC's of ME. Get it? I do not dance.

khaleja-a great idea wasted in pursuit of heroism

you may ask me why you are writing this review after a long time.
yes its a very long time. the movies released a long back. but some of my friends ( kamesh, raghu, dn.......) and students consider it a good movie where as i differ from their point.
Henceforth i want to put my review on this movie which was made for three years directed by one of the most talented director and  protagonist played  by a lovely personality in film industry.

PLOT:
A village suffering from mysterious deaths faces a situation: whether to leave the village or face the inevitable.some leave the village and others stay back. A soothsayer predicts a messiah will be sent by the god to save the remaining lot. The soothsayer sends one of his disciple with hints  to find the so called messiah. The messiah finds protagonist in a bizarre situation and brings him to the village. The protagonist is in no mood to agree with the prophecy.Whats the secret behind deaths in village? How the protagonist agrees to save the victims? And whats the term GOD reflects? .

THE COURSE OF THE MOVIE:

On the paper this movie is a perfect script which promises a block buster. With Mahesh babu in the lead and a director like trivikram srinivas the script seems flawless and destined to be one of the elegant packages of the year. The songs, promos and publicity created a strong platform. the director took nearly three years to complete the movie and anticipation has no measure.

THE GOOD THINGS:
* Comic situations which refresh you every ten to fifteen minutes
*The theory of helping the needy is realizing god
*The dialogues at climax.
THE BAD THINGS:
*The strength of any story is its protagonist. Its the strong characterization of  Ram and Ravana that made Ramayana a legend. Its the same with Sherlockholmes. Its the same with recently made Gamyam. The Protagonist of Khalejha lack intensity and sensibility which never goes well with the story. Our protagonist never sympathizes with the sufferings of victims( be it the death of the child or her amazing  recovery, the repeated requests from the village folk to save the village , or his sudden transformation). No where he feels for the craving village. The village, soothsayer and his disciple are strong in their conviction where as our hero is halfhearted.
*The problem is never put in a perspective. The factory which was the root cause was never seen except visuals. The politician - industrialist nexus was never properly explored. And above all Media which highlights a small gimmickry in villages in flash news form is completely avoided in this film. The problem therefore never turns out to be neither explored nor solved. And the problem, its creator and its implications arise in the last reel and fall in that reel itself. I advise the director to just go through Maayabazzar and Sholay both different yet establish problem in a definitive manner so that the viewer is in a tense mood to see how the protagonist eliminates the problem
*I advise trivikram to read " in high places"by Arthur Hailey. It to show case how to entwine different aspects to reach a certain moment and from their to a glorious conclusion. Trivikram failed and what appears is cuts and pieces put together to form a zigzag
THE UGLY
When a director like trivikram (who writes good dialogues also ) we are made to expect a sumptuous meal. In the worst case a satisfactory yawn. But  what is dished out? A stale comic pursuit to a serious problem.
That is unpardonable.
I and Musafir often discuss stories written by the great Tilak. While reading the story itself it makes you feel, weep, exclaim and run somewhere. Any story by tilak gives you such pain. By mentioning sri Tilak iam making a sin. But i am not comparing. I want you folks to realize Sri Tilak wrote situations. felt situations. and its godlike.
So Trivikram srinivas who wrote and directed some of the finest movies lost his touch. Why? He failed to feel. He failed to see and he failed to connect. The result: a good story shattered into pieces.

What may be the reason: Simple. the problem that plagues the Telugu industry. Hero Worship. For elevating hero we kill the situation. For making the hero look super human we shun the mach features of problem. For hero we search heroine instead of searching the heroine. ( learn from the casting of Lagaan, Omkara, Gamyam ) Telugu Industry is for the hero of the hero and by the hero. And for that simple reason good stories are channeled into pieces and there by drainage's.

katha screen play darsakatvam-- upendra

Just look at this stuff

" air traffic being diverted to Warangal international Airport due to congestion at Shamshahbad Airport.
Britishers( white) working as daily labour in a developed India
Britishers working as taxi drivers, fighting for passengers......
1000 Rs being exchanged for 8000 pounds
1 rs in conversion getting 80 dollars
lot of foreigners working in Indian hotels

And all this in first fifteen minutes of the new film "?" (super)directed by upendra.

call it my stupidity or idiocracy for i enjoyed certain moments in this film

Eccentricity---Confusion----Courage--------Metaphors --------  UPENDRA

Yes. I always watched movies directed by Upendra with excitement. In  "A" the first fifteen minutes were awesome. The same with all his movies. Then he misses the thread.  In the movie "upendra" he converts natures elements into heroines. His movies were always badly edited. Badly photographed. But his themes mostly novel. Like ram gopal varma he repeats himself with same technique---All his films let it be om or A or upendra or now this title less film there is this thread of heroine avoiding hero and hero making a rather stupid effort to woo her. But he always has something to clap for

This new movie features upendra as an NRI based Entrepreneur who adores India and never been to India. His India is what he learnt from a spirtual guru. He Marries a  Indian Girl in India  whom he thinks is very traditional but he soon learns shew has other motives. On her behest he sets out to get pension for a poor primary teacher honestly. He learns his India is only a mirage where as the real India differs a lot. During this course he learns more truths about Heroine. Interesting factor is he uses heroine as a metaphor for the country. What he has done forms the rest of the story.

yes the theme is worth. But as i already said the first fifteen minutes. Later he slips slips and slips. The same happened in this movie. Even then go watch it for it has something that gives you a childlike joy for some one dared to show whites working for us. No film maker ever ever dared.

Yes  watch it for he was the one who dared to call Moghuls as invaders, foreigners and wealth looters.

I repeat its  badly edited, photographed yet directed with heart at right place.

Finally:
When the hero tries to help the poor primary teacher, certain goons demolish the teachers house. A lot of crowd gathers by. The hero comes and watches helplessly. The teachers curses the hero for disturbing his routine. The hero's father arrives and asks him to come back to London for the so called ideals now cease to exist in India The hero replies in a loud voice
" Father! don't say a word  about India. If this is London all should have shouted against the goons. But look at us. How peaceful we are. this is our legacy we inherited from past. standing with peace and patience. If this is London all may have got together and helped this man into his house. But look at us. We inherited the greatest Karma theory and we know this is the fate of this old man. Do you all these onlookers are free from work. They sacrificed their work and watching this thus negating work for happenings around. Dad you never told me that i can live this relaxed tensionleSs and spicy life in India.  made my precious years dump in work and work . sorry i cannot come back. i love mother India"

GO WATCH FOR SUCH FIERY WORDSFOR A WHILE

EVEN YOU..........................now...... CAN MAKE A MOVIE

Dear RGV---I am suffering from stockholm syndrome

or else what?

has been reading your semi autobiographical collection in telugu " naa istham"

seems to have devloped a soft corner towards you lately

or else why should i take such a decision of watching your 5 day made low budgeted
"dongala mutta" which declares to have brought in new technology in movie making.

Folks who ever read this don't ask me for what is in this 90 minute long story.

from siva to kshanashanam to raatri daud to road to anaganaga oka roju to govinda govinda to gayam  ...........the same angles, the same chasing scenes, the same " so called naturality" , the same back ground music ( guys he declared most of his famous BGM s ( even scenes)  are plagiarised from god father, oman ...)   AREN'T YOU BORED RGV?

Throughout your book you try to showcase yourself as a symbol of modern Indian renaissance. your opinions on so many subjects are worth llistening for they are only for hear sake. Your justification, your understanding of Ayn Rand, your perceptions on fountauin head, ....................... and your movie Dongala Mutta are a big contradiction.

And  often you laud yourself for bringing in steady cam and now canon technology into indian movies. Let me inform you the first CinemaScope, stereophonic(six track) and 70 mm movies were made by super star krishna. On a given day I prefer to watch those movies to dongalamutta.

And RGV my suggestion. write a book this time which will be useful to chiranjeevi ( yes mega star) and name it " how to sell your reputation to the maximum extent possible"

Sorry Sir. I am not well in expressing my feelings in Telugu. I know very well this farewell in English will hurt you. Please pardon this sinner. Let every Telugu parent be awake to this point that we are killing our language by keeping away our future citizens away from gems and pearls created by greats. Let this be the day to acknowledge the fact we have a govt which is very busy in safeguarding TELUGU in a Mausoleum.

I feel sad to have wasted good years reading bad and cheap stuff in my youthful days. I should be thankful to my grandfather who introduced me to "బుడుగు"

I read a lot about  budugu and his exploits at an age of 11 and 12 ( perhaps my golden years) I never knew about the creator. And ramana garu was no walt disney. Yes. If he was we the publicity stunt masters of every outsider should have received universal patronage. రమణగారు, మళ్ళి  ఇక్కడ పుట్టకండి . We ignore genius  between us in all possible ways. We never carry legacies to next gen.

Later on when i learnt the writer of mutyalamuggu was very much the creator of budugu and stories i said "oh". for now i am grown into a directionless teen and later  care less young man.
But when i  became a teacher i realized how much i missed you. I realized how simple and worthy your writing is. I realized how i relished my childhood literary inclinations with SUPERMAN, PHANTOM, ZORRO, TARZAN, SHADOW, ASTHA SIDDAS, ALICE, GULLIVER, VIKRAMARKA............. AND BUDUGU on equal planes. heres the lines i never forget

Yes, you have worked wonders with bapu garu on Telugu screen. You have your place well settled besides Telugu literary giants.
But for me and for lots of kids ( perhaps the tech savvy  may not know) you gave budugu and his friends. They are no less than swami and his friends or Mickey and friends. In fact budugu carries something which others doesn't. The heart and freshness of a child

Thank u sir for leaving an immortal budugu with us

My own sweet memories!

 " రమనోయి! నన్ను  ఇలా వదిలేస్తే ఎలా . నాకు బోల్డు ఖోపం వచేసింది! " ఏడుపు కూడా !

NOTE: Budugu and his friends were the creation of sri mullapudi ramana. But the cartoons of the characters were by Bapu. I dont have much insight into sri Ramana's work except for budugu and some excerpts of kotikomachi. By making a reference of walt disney i made a mistake of not mentioning bapu. Infact the line of bapu and word of ramana are/were inseparble. My words here were born out by experiences   had at parlakhemundi. Being alone my friends were huge collections of books. They were my companions. And budugu was one such companion in my lonely innocent child hood days.

some good advertisements and serial tracks

folks
back after a tense and nerve wracking operation
so today i want to share some of the best advertisements  and serial tracks liked by me.
dont underestimate ad films. they are passports to filmdom sometimes. the jingles made by ar rahman for many ads expressed his value to maniratnam who offfered his first break. Satyajit ray  started his work with an ad agency. It may amaze you to know that the cover design of  Jawahar Lal Nehru's " discovewry Of India" was designed by ray.Shyam Benegal, Gautam Ghosh , ridley scott etc., were among many who reached films through ads. The following were/.are the best ad films that made us  watch advertisements.

1)  Amul has been a trend setter in advertising. The story of amul it self is awesome. It scripted new horizons in advertising. Its style is indigenous. look at the following ads. you will ....

Egypts triumph

                                                                     Krishnas portugal fiasco

the older ad

AMUL stands for Anand Milk Union Limited
2) Patriotism mixed with commerce. this was our favourite during our college days. Of course scooter no more exists on the production lines of bajaj. pulsar dominates.

3) ad for tv. Now with so many channels you may forgotten this. but this was our first intro to television.

4) our zing thing days. I still remember jungle book movie days when we collected the hidden things under the cool drinks caps

5) when ever my mother said  you are small for these things i always said Amma I am growing

In the video shahid kapoor and Ayesha Takia in their childhood days
6) I Love You .....

6) chapak gaya to...

8) before airtel this was a famous ad tune that spread like anything . ( mozarts symphony)

9) the looks of a winner. we used to shout in theatres when these ads appeared

10 ) the list will be incomplete if it does not include this. simple yet very effective

11) preach and sell

12) considered to be one of the best ads made. for apple company by ridley scott introducing the macintosh

13) GAP Ad by spike Jonze. Considered a creative ad of the century. watch it.

14) my crush for serial title songs started with this one. Promos were created with this haunting music for this serial. a classic even today. My pick. even though not an ad the promos carried this musical

15) this was also a very popular serial song used to advertise this unforgettable serial

15) Another from nostalgia

16) Shyam benegals master piece for doordharshan

17) my fav and see the glow spreading as the track approaches the end

thats it

wih love rk
