Sorry Sir. I am not well in expressing my feelings in Telugu. I know very well this farewell in English will hurt you. Please pardon this sinner. Let every Telugu parent be awake to this point that we are killing our language by keeping away our future citizens away from gems and pearls created by greats. Let this be the day to acknowledge the fact we have a govt which is very busy in safeguarding TELUGU in a Mausoleum.

I feel sad to have wasted good years reading bad and cheap stuff in my youthful days. I should be thankful to my grandfather who introduced me to "బుడుగు"

I read a lot about  budugu and his exploits at an age of 11 and 12 ( perhaps my golden years) I never knew about the creator. And ramana garu was no walt disney. Yes. If he was we the publicity stunt masters of every outsider should have received universal patronage. రమణగారు, మళ్ళి  ఇక్కడ పుట్టకండి . We ignore genius  between us in all possible ways. We never carry legacies to next gen.

Later on when i learnt the writer of mutyalamuggu was very much the creator of budugu and stories i said "oh". for now i am grown into a directionless teen and later  care less young man.
But when i  became a teacher i realized how much i missed you. I realized how simple and worthy your writing is. I realized how i relished my childhood literary inclinations with SUPERMAN, PHANTOM, ZORRO, TARZAN, SHADOW, ASTHA SIDDAS, ALICE, GULLIVER, VIKRAMARKA............. AND BUDUGU on equal planes. heres the lines i never forget

Yes, you have worked wonders with bapu garu on Telugu screen. You have your place well settled besides Telugu literary giants.
But for me and for lots of kids ( perhaps the tech savvy  may not know) you gave budugu and his friends. They are no less than swami and his friends or Mickey and friends. In fact budugu carries something which others doesn't. The heart and freshness of a child

Thank u sir for leaving an immortal budugu with us

My own sweet memories!

 " రమనోయి! నన్ను  ఇలా వదిలేస్తే ఎలా . నాకు బోల్డు ఖోపం వచేసింది! " ఏడుపు కూడా !

NOTE: Budugu and his friends were the creation of sri mullapudi ramana. But the cartoons of the characters were by Bapu. I dont have much insight into sri Ramana's work except for budugu and some excerpts of kotikomachi. By making a reference of walt disney i made a mistake of not mentioning bapu. Infact the line of bapu and word of ramana are/were inseparble. My words here were born out by experiences   had at parlakhemundi. Being alone my friends were huge collections of books. They were my companions. And budugu was one such companion in my lonely innocent child hood days.

some good advertisements and serial tracks

folks
back after a tense and nerve wracking operation
so today i want to share some of the best advertisements  and serial tracks liked by me.
dont underestimate ad films. they are passports to filmdom sometimes. the jingles made by ar rahman for many ads expressed his value to maniratnam who offfered his first break. Satyajit ray  started his work with an ad agency. It may amaze you to know that the cover design of  Jawahar Lal Nehru's " discovewry Of India" was designed by ray.Shyam Benegal, Gautam Ghosh , ridley scott etc., were among many who reached films through ads. The following were/.are the best ad films that made us  watch advertisements.

1)  Amul has been a trend setter in advertising. The story of amul it self is awesome. It scripted new horizons in advertising. Its style is indigenous. look at the following ads. you will ....

Egypts triumph

                                                                     Krishnas portugal fiasco

the older ad

AMUL stands for Anand Milk Union Limited
2) Patriotism mixed with commerce. this was our favourite during our college days. Of course scooter no more exists on the production lines of bajaj. pulsar dominates.

3) ad for tv. Now with so many channels you may forgotten this. but this was our first intro to television.

4) our zing thing days. I still remember jungle book movie days when we collected the hidden things under the cool drinks caps

5) when ever my mother said  you are small for these things i always said Amma I am growing

In the video shahid kapoor and Ayesha Takia in their childhood days
6) I Love You .....

6) chapak gaya to...

8) before airtel this was a famous ad tune that spread like anything . ( mozarts symphony)

9) the looks of a winner. we used to shout in theatres when these ads appeared

10 ) the list will be incomplete if it does not include this. simple yet very effective

11) preach and sell

12) considered to be one of the best ads made. for apple company by ridley scott introducing the macintosh

13) GAP Ad by spike Jonze. Considered a creative ad of the century. watch it.

14) my crush for serial title songs started with this one. Promos were created with this haunting music for this serial. a classic even today. My pick. even though not an ad the promos carried this musical

15) this was also a very popular serial song used to advertise this unforgettable serial

15) Another from nostalgia

16) Shyam benegals master piece for doordharshan

17) my fav and see the glow spreading as the track approaches the end

thats it

wih love rk

Betrayal: Journey in the name of leadership

I am a great fan of Chiranjeevi. I was introduced to  this chiru mania when i was 10 years old. I saw Khaidi with my family in Kakinada. And for me he was someone superhuman who was beating police in police station and living in thick jungles. Later I saw my teachers daughter shouting in Ecstasy when he was dancing on the screen. And when I was in X my telugu teacher explained to us how Chiranjeevi without any back support climbed the steps of star hood I fell flat. For me he was an inspiration who proved with hard work one can achieve the ultimate. In my degree years the WEEK magazine published a cover story about Chiranjeevi with  the tag line " BIGGER THAN BACHAN".Entire college went crazy. I cut the photo of chiranjeevi from that magazine  and pasted it in my scrap book. Years later in my room i pasted photos of bill clinton, pv narasimha rao, man mohan singh, and put chiranjeevis photo there and a slogan " OUR FUTURE"

Today that future sold his future to a futuristic party letting a true affection sink into drainage. I join his true fans whom he made believe his character and attitude are that of a winner. In simple he modelled himself  on the lines of Ellsworth Toohey in Fountain Head.

Appearances can be deceptive. One year and five months back when actor turned politician Chiranjeevi announced his dream party at a meeting attended by lakhs of his fans through out Andhra pradesh, hopes and expectations flied in new ways and alleys forecasting a bright and prosperous Andhra pradesh. Today Chiranjeevi wore congress uniform at New Delhi announcing his parties alignment with  congress and there by ending a tale of betrayal and deception.

No, I never thought Chiranjeevi will be a Mustafa Kemal or Bismark. Even in my wildest of thoughts I never imagined he will be a model politician. You may ask then why you are so emotional?

Do you know what is the real funda behind Rajyasabha? Scientists, Intellectuals, Philosophers and researchers  etc., cannot reach common people and influence them. They are way behind this political education. Therefore it is the duty of elected representatives to send these people to the upper house who will play an effective role in shaping the development of the country. However Rajyasabha was now used in other way, that you people know.

Many people from different walks of life --who saw chiranjeevi before his partys advent
-- who heard chianjeevis idealistic "VIEWS"
--who saw the early leaders in his party
felt they with the help of chiranjeevi can enter the political scenario and usher in a new era. Many youngsters believed he will be the "RENAISSANCE". And many thought he "will"  lead all of these people.

I believed this theory top a certain extent. When chiru made his first movie all thought it will be a commercial trendsetter. But he made Socially conscious " Rudra Veena". So when I saw two socially conscious people making the blueprints of his party I felt a ray of hope.

But hopes began to crash with the two leaving and one of them terming that party as poisonous ivy. And what a fall.

Hard core fans believed he will rise and this is only a passing cloud.Recently my friend suryam and I were talking about Chiranjeevis fall and his improper attitude. The auto wallah stopped the auto and dropped us down and expressed his agony over our remarks and challenged us to see the reemergence of party soon. My heart goes to those kind of people. of course their leader now is a real politician.
Dear Chiru History has given you a chance to lead. Few men get that kind of support which you got. Few will scale what you scaled. Few can achieve what you achieved.

But No one will stoop   to such down as you did today. You not only sold your self. You sold millions of peoples affection on you

And Chiru your future --only miracles and clever strategies will save you. Learn them. For the party you went in has a history of more than 120 years. Please read history or the chronicles of "use and throw" policy of your new mentor. If you don't have time ask what happened to Kamraaj ( 1967 you may not know his name too)  charan singh, chandrasekar and even KCR. It may help uo in future endeavors
Folks beware true leadership is still a mirage in this country.
I will end this with few lines which you used in your movie to project your deceptive idealism.

that it folks

Yeh Saali Zindagi

In the early scenes of Yeh saali Zindagi at Rogers Funeral  Chitrangada Singh with tears in her eyes mourning her near ones death with anger in her voice asks Irfan " why are you here"? He explains to her and convinces her to get the thumb impression of the dead person in the coffin.   She slowly walks to the corpse, looks towards the corpse, with tears flowing she returns back to khan  and asks him with very mournful expression in a angry voice " wheres the stamp pad".

In another similar shot a shooter was ordered to kill kuldip who was out of Gang to lead a happy life. But in sudden twist the order was cancelled. Now attempts run in a chaotic manner to stop shooter who already took his aim and alas he is unable to hear any one with ear plugs in. The shooters cousin brother reaches opposite building and valiantly tries to stop the shooter. unable to communicate the brother informs the higher he cannot stop the shooter as he is not listening. The higher up asks the shooters brother to kill the shooter before he kills kuldip. The shooter brother refuses citing relation and as more price is offered he starts bargaining and once a price is reached, wiping tears,  he shoots his shooter cousin.

After a long time I happily lived a film. I sat to write this review and started to recollect what i saw. But what a difficult exercise was that. With different locations, innumerable purposeful characters, stirring music , best editing and screenplay and lively performances by the leads Yeh Saali Zindagi is the best film after a long time.

Story of two Individuals ( one a CA and another a gangster )caught in love and desperation YSZ showcases opportunism, humanity , love , betrayal, and evil in best of the shades.

The dialogues are the best in recent times. They carried humour in the most intelligent manner.

The track of Irfan khan and chitrangada was dark with the lady searching for permanency and the man ready for anything for her.

The track of Kuldip ( Arunoday singh) and his wife (aditi rao ) was fiery love with wife hitting the husband for his ulterior ways.

Between  these two tracks the director weaves a web of characters. If you wink , turn or pause you will miss the links. After Oye lucky Oye we have some one here who makes us to follow him without a break. And what a journey with twists and surprises laced with emotions and thrills. I guarantee you a ride of life time with this movie. An Indian answer to Quentin_Tarantino.

Irfan showcases his talent as Arun. His looks and voice will haunt you for a long time. Arunoday singh delivers a cool performance. Chitrangada makes you feel the way the leads feel for her on the screen. Every actor in the film had his presence.

Kudos to  Sudhir Mishra who made this film

Go for this ride. If not you missed a very good film.
